As we say farewell to hot summer days, the good times in Myrtle Beach are beginning to heat up as the fall season brings a variety of festivals and events. If you’re planning to visit from September through the beginning of November, here are some opportunities to indulge in food and fun around the Grand Strand:

Location: Huntington Beach State Park
Venture down to Huntington Beach State Park and take in the beauty of Atalaya Castle during the Atalaya Arts & Crafts Festival. You’ll be able to meander through the walls of the castle as you check out beautiful pieces of art, including everything from paintings to wooden sculptures.

Location: Grand Park
This three-day event kicks off with a night of comedy at An Evening with Bob the Drag Queen at Main Street Theatre in Conway. On Saturday there will be a family-friendly event starting at noon in Grand Park featuring live music, entertainment, food trucks, and activities and games. The event wraps up on Sunday with a Pet Pride Parade.

Location: Brookgreen Gardens
Kick-off the fall season with Brookgreen’s annual Harvest Home Festival. There will be a pumpkin patch, a scarecrow building, and a hay maze. You can pick out a pumpkin and decorate it there, the price is $5 for a small pumpkin and $9 for a large. There will be plenty of delicious food and Greg Rowles from Alabama Theatre will be providing entertainment.

Location: The Market Common
The Market Common is kicking off October with the annual Oktoberfest celebration. There will be a wide variety of seasonal beers to sip on, over 60 vendors to shop with, live entertainment, and plenty of family-friendly activities.

Location: The Market Common
Over 40 artists will travel to Valor Park in The Market Common for the 49th annual Waccamaw Arts and Crafts Guild Art in the Park. You will be able to purchase paintings, woodwork, photographs, jewelry, fabric, glass, metal, pottery, and stone. The admission is free, and the event is pet-friendly.

Location: Little River Waterfront
Located along the sparkling Atlantic Ocean, Myrtle Beach is known for its fresh seafood. In celebration of this delicious cuisine, Little Rive is hosting its 16th Annual Little River Shrimpfest along the historic Little River Waterfront. Festival-goers can anticipate enjoying live music, balloon artists, stilt walkers, craft vendors, business expos, shrimp and fresh local seafood, and more.

Location: St. John’s Greek Church
The annual St. John’s Greek Festival is a celebration of Greek culture. There will be plenty of
delicious Greek cuisine including moussaka, pastitsio, souvlaki, gyros, and of course
scrumptious desserts like baklava. There will be Greek music and entertainment, so bring your
appetite and get ready for a fun weekend.

Location: Myrtle Beach
Come out and enjoy this three-day festival featuring the smooth tunes of jazz music. Each night will feature a concert highlighting one jazz musician. Check out their website for more information and tickets to the shows.

Location: Brookgreen Gardens
This event is sure to send shivers up your spine as you spend an evening with tales of the ghosts that are known to haunt the Lowcountry. The evening will begin with a Lowcountry supper buffet followed by ghost tales from Gullah Geechee folklore told by Ron Daise and gothic fiction performed by actor and horror icon Bill Oberst Jr. The stories told include Taily-Po, Wiley and the Hairy Man, and Precious and the Boo-Ha.

Location: Brookgreen Gardens
The is a popular fall event at Brookgreen that takes place in the backfield, next to the Lowcountry Zoo. Attendees can expect to enjoy beer tasting, entertainment by the Paul Grimshaw Band, and plenty of fun.
